Eyelet blouse

I found a pattern for this cute blouse and I just *had* to make it!

I'm obsessed with eyelets and anything that laces up  (think corsets)

They look so beautiful and feminine to me.
Putting them all in takes a bit of time but it's worth it

The lace trim on the bottom and sleeve hems is another touch I really enjoy.

This is the pattern that was used

Another thing I love is lining..which was pretty important with the fabric I chose

Magical Harry Potter Style Wand

My friend and I found this site and decided to try it out!

http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-an-awesome-Harry-Potter-wand-from-a-sheet-of-/

It's pretty cool because it didn't require leaving the house; everything needed we already had.

We made the wands from a piece of paper, tacky glue, hot glue gun, and paint.

Basically you roll up the paper, glue it, then use the glue gun to get creative and make designs.

You also need to plug in the holes at the bottom and top. I decided to use a bead (I ended up only using the large bead)

Here's how mine came out. We used some textured brown spray paint and gold model paint dry brushed over.

Itty Bitty Painting

So I found these itty bitty canvases at Joanns. They're only a buck or maybe even less when on sale

And then my boyfriend found this picture

And then this came about

Pirate Weapons/Accessories

As promised, I would make a post about my pirate accessories, and here it is! I've collected these over the years and I hope to find more.

Let's start off with the pistol. It doesn't fire anything, but you can pull back the hammer and pull the trigger and it will make a snap sound.

It is made from wood and metal pieces, not plastic.

If you're in the Long Beach area, you can find these at the pirate store in Shoreline Village.

Face with a ring. Perhaps I could put a decorative rope work/knot on the ring?

Next is my knife. Or is it a dagger? I got this at the shop mentioned above. The case I made from some scrap materials. It has a rope at the top to hold it down since I brought it to the renaissance fair and they require you to peace tie your weapons.

Inside is a beautiful painting.

It also came with this detachable skull that stays on with a magnet.

This is a small knife (letter opener size) that my dad found so I don't know where it came from.

Don't worry, nothing here is actually sharp!

Now my favorite piece...a real antique sword! The chain was added by me as a way to attach it to a belt and is not antique.

Amazing little details at the handle.

Notice the crown and anchor and acorns.

This is etched on the blade.

I've always wondered who these initials stood for...

Thank you for looking!

Messengers of Peace

So this year's Scout-o-Rama theme for the Long Beach Boy Scouts is "Messengers of Peace, Partnering with our Community." We have big plans for this Saturday's event! For our booth, I decided to make a peace pennant!

It is part of our electric cart boat. Since I am a part of a Sea Scout unit, it's all about boats. You'll see when it is completed.

ARRRGH! Pirate Print Skirt

I found this skull print fabric in my closet, perfect for making a skirt!

It is two layers gathered around a waistband with a zipper in the back. I'm testing it out for a future costume...

I needed it to go all the way to the floor. Though I'm thinking of cutting it short. I don't want to waste fabric, but I think it would be cool to wear to Buccaneer Days at Catalina Island.

More accessories will be added, of course. I love to accessorize! Another post on that later.

Buccaneer Days is THE party on Catalina Island. It's the first weekend in October. It's good to arrive on Thursday if you are bringing a boat. And if you are camping, make your reservations early!

It's a lot of fun to dress up for Buccaneer Days, so I'll be making my lineup and posting it here.

Fair winds and following seas!
